Finished metal model of the King Tiger heavy tank with the early turret, in the markings of the 506th Heavy Panzer Battalion at Arnhem in 1944, 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The King Tiger, that is the Tiger II, was the heaviest German tank used in production numbers. It combined heavily sloped frontal armor with an 88 mm gun whose barrel was seventy-one calibers long. That firepower and toughness were paid for with a weight of over sixty tons, which strained the transmission and bridges alike and cost the vehicle its mobility.
The first machines built received a turret with a rounded front plate and bulged sides, which collectors know under the designation Porsche. The later production turret has a flat, angular front, so the two forms of the King Tiger can be told apart at first glance. The model is done in the markings of the 506th Heavy Panzer Battalion, which in the autumn of 1944 was used on the Western Front in the Arnhem area.
This is a finished collector's model, not a kit. It comes from the factory assembled, painted and with printed markings applied. The 1:48 scale is noticeably larger than the usual 1:72, so the model shows the detail better and makes a striking piece in a display case.
The model is supplied finished and is not intended for further assembly. A display case, a base and figures are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
