A finished collector model of the German Sd.Kfz. 222 light armored reconnaissance car in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sd.Kfz. 222 was a light four-wheeled armored car built for reconnaissance, that is for a task in which speed and visibility decide rather than the strength of the armor. On the road it was brisk; rough country suited it rather less. In a low polygonal turret it carried a 20 millimeter autocannon and a coaxial machine gun, and the gun had a high elevation, so it could deal with targets above it too. The turret was open at the top and was protected by a hinged wire mesh screen against hand grenades, which is one of the most conspicuous features of the whole car.
The model is in 1:48 scale and comes finished, assembled and painted, with factory-applied markings. Nothing is glued, filled or sprayed on; the model only has to be unpacked and stood on a shelf. The 1:48 scale is noticeably larger than the more usual 1:72, so small things like the screen over the turret or the angled shapes of the armor plates stand out better.
It suits collectors of German vehicles of the Second World War and everyone who wants a representative of the light reconnaissance cars in a display case without building it. It goes well with other vehicles in 1:48 scale and at this size it also stands the company of figures, if a collection is heading toward a scene. When carrying it, it is better to take the model by the bottom of the hull than by the armament or by the screen over the turret itself.
A finished model is supplied. It is not a kit, so the package holds no glue, paints or decals, and a display case or a base is not included either, unless stated otherwise.
