1:72 KV-2 Heavy Tank

The real subject

The KV-2 was a Soviet heavy tank built on the chassis of the KV-1 type. Instead of an ordinary turret with an antitank gun it carried a tall, angular turret with a 152 mm howitzer, meant for destroying fortifications and firing positions. Its tall silhouette and the weight of the turret counted as its main weaknesses: turning the turret on a slope was difficult and the chassis and the transmission worked at the edge of what they could manage.

It went into action at the start of the German attack on the Soviet Union in 1941. Its strong armor gave it a marked advantage then, but a number of machines were lost without being hit at all, through breakdowns or a lack of fuel. The combination of massive armament and a short combat career made it one of the most conspicuous tanks of 1941.

The workmanship of the model

This is a finished collector model in 1:72 scale. From the factory it is assembled, painted and provided with markings, so it is not supplied in the form of sprues. You need no glue, paints or modeling tools for it. When handling it, it pays to hold the model by the hull, as the small external features tend to be the most sensitive on finished models.

Who it is for

The model will be appreciated by collectors of military vehicles who are assembling a coherent row in one scale, and by modelers looking for a finished addition to a diorama in 1:72 with no further work. It will also serve as a gift for anyone interested in Second World War vehicles.

The package holds the model on its own. A base, a display case and other accessories are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
