The KV-2 came about as an answer to the need for a means of breaking a fortified position. On the chassis of the KV-1 heavy tank it received a tall, angular turret with a 152 millimeter howitzer, and with it an appearance that cannot be mistaken for anything else. Against bunkers and firing positions it was effective, but it paid for that with high weight, ponderousness and the fact that on a slope the turret could only be turned with difficulty. Production stopped as early as 1941 and most of the machines ended in the first months of fighting on the Eastern Front.
This is a finished model in 1:72 scale, assembled and painted at the factory. It carries the markings and the rendering of a machine operating on the Kalinin Front in January 1942. Nothing is glued, sprayed or added; the model only has to be unpacked and stood up. It is the rendering of a particular machine at a given time and place rather than a generic representation, which anyone assembling a display case by battlefield or period will appreciate.
The model is for collectors of military vehicles and for anyone who wants a striking subject in a display case without building it. The 1:72 scale is common with vehicles, so it stands easily beside other vehicles or aircraft of the same size and keeps the proportion with them. It will also serve as a striking element in a finished scene.
A finished model is supplied. It is not a kit, so the package holds no glue, paints or decals, and a display case or a base is not included either, unless stated otherwise.
