A finished collector model of the American M10 tank destroyer in 1:72 scale, in the rendering of the 773rd Tank Destroyer Battalion, Belgium January 1945.
Responsibility details are not available.
The M10 was built on a modified chassis of the Sherman medium tank and is a textbook example of the American idea of a tank destroyer: strength in the gun and in speed of movement, not in armor. It carried a 76.2 millimeter gun in a rotating turret that was open at the top, so that the crew could see and hear better. The sloped plates of the hull looked menacing but were thin, and the open turret exposed the crew to splinters. Balancing the turret was taken care of by the conspicuous counterweights at its rear. In the winter of 1944 and 1945 these machines were among the mainstays of the American forces in Belgium.
The model is in 1:72 scale and comes finished, assembled and painted, with the markings of the 773rd Tank Destroyer Battalion from Belgium in January 1945. Nothing is glued or sprayed on. What is captured is a particular machine at a particular time rather than a generic representation, so the model suits a display case assembled by unit or by battlefield.
The model suits collectors of Allied vehicles of the Second World War and everyone who wants a particular historical machine in a display case without building it. In 1:72 scale it will complement other vehicles and aircraft of the same size well. When carrying it, it is wiser to take the model by the bottom of the hull than by the gun barrel or by the equipment fixed on the armor.
A finished model is supplied. It is not a kit, so the package holds no glue, paints or decals, and a display case or a base is not included either, unless stated otherwise.
