About product

The real subject

The M7 Howitzer Motor Carriage, commonly known as the Priest, was an American 105 mm self-propelled howitzer on a tracked chassis derived from the American medium tanks. The fighting compartment is open at the top and on the right side of the hull a cylindrical machine gun mount projects, recalling a pulpit. It was after that mount that the vehicle got its British nickname, the Priest. The Priest was not meant for direct combat with tanks but for firing from covered positions in support of its own units.

Markings and period

The model carries the name URANUS and the markings of the 2nd French Armored Division, that is the unit led by General Leclerc which in 1944 took part in the fighting in France. French crews commonly gave their vehicles names of their own and wrote them conspicuously on the hull, so the name on the model is not decoration but period practice.

The workmanship of the model

This is a finished collector model, not a kit. From the factory it is assembled, painted and provided with printed markings, and the metal form gives it weight. Once unpacked it heads straight for a display case.

Placement and care

  • A display case out of direct sunlight and away from a radiator
  • Brush dust away with a soft brush, without water or cleaning agents
  • Lift the model by the hull; the open fighting compartment has small details

The model is supplied finished and is not meant for any further assembly. A display case, a base and figures are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
