A kit of the Italian Ansaldo SVA-5 biplane of the First World War in 1:32 scale, the release designated FOREIGN.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ansaldo SVA-5 was an Italian single-seat biplane of the end of the First World War. It did not make its name as a fighter, but it was among the fastest machines of its day and had an exceptional range by the standards of the time, so it proved itself as a fast reconnaissance and light bombing aircraft. It was powered by a water-cooled SPA inline six-cylinder engine. The interplane struts formed a system in the shape of the letter W, thanks to which the airframe did without the usual tangle of bracing wires between the wings. The best-known feat of the type was the long-distance flight over Vienna in August 1918, during which the machines dropped leaflets.
The release carries the qualifier FOREIGN in its name. After the end of the war, SVA machines also found their way outside Italian service and flew under the markings of other states. Which parts and which markings the package holds is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The 1:32 scale lets the small things of the cockpit and the engine come out, but at the same time it forgives inaccuracies less. Clear the parts of excess material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and finish the surface by sanding. Put the whole airframe together dry first and only then glue it: with a biplane what matters is that the upper wing sits parallel with the lower one and that the struts stand vertical. Wash and degrease the parts before painting.
The set is aimed at a modeler who likes aircraft of the First World War and is not afraid of a build that calls for working out the order of work himself. Paints, glue and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
