A set of shaped plugs that are pushed into the wheel bays of a model of the Soviet La-5 fighter in 1:72 scale during painting. It is not a model but an aid to painting. A wheel bay is hard to mask, because it is deep and complex and paper tape breaks up inside it. A ready-made plug closes the cavity reliably and, once the spraying is done, is simply taken out.
Push the plug in so that it sits flush with the surrounding surface, not so that it stands proud. A plug standing proud creates a step at the edge around which the paint jumps. Do not force it in, above all on a model where the bay interior is already fitted out. Take it out as soon as the paint has taken, so that it does not stick at the edge. The same plugs are worth using when spraying clear and flat coats as well.
It pays to use the plugs when spraying the primer too, not only for the top coat. Otherwise the coats build up in the bay and the landing gear legs no longer seat properly.
The set contains only the plugs. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
