The in-flight refueling probes 1:48 are a 3D printed resin set of four probes for in-flight refueling, in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains four 3D printed resin probes for in-flight refueling of the kind carried by the Su-30, Su-33, Su-34 and Su-35 aircraft and the MiG-29 and MiG-31 machines. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory that replaces a simplified part from the kit. The print holds the thin rod as well as the shape of the tip, which a mold inevitably thickens.
On Russian combat aircraft in-flight refueling is handled by a retractable probe in the front of the fuselage, which the pilot guides into the drogue towed behind the tanker. The probe is retracted in normal flight and extends only before the hook-up, so in photographs of machines on the ground it tends to be hidden. On long patrol flights and ferry flights it is nevertheless key. For a modeler it is a small but conspicuous item in the vicinity of the cockpit.
First wash the 3D printed parts in warm water with a little dish soap, so that they are rid of the residue of printing resin. Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand the marks down with your airways protected. Resin does not bond with cement for polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Lay a thin coat of primer on before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth print. Number the small parts before you cut them off the supports, because once separated they are easily mixed up.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
