Tamiya Sanding Sponge Sheet, 1500 grit

The Tamiya Sanding Sponge Sheet, 1500 grit, is an abrasive foam sheet with a fine 1500 grit. The aluminum oxide abrasive is applied to a flexible foam backing about 5 mm thick, which follows shapes perfectly: roundings, curved surfaces and corners that are hard to reach. The sheet is easily cut to the size needed with a modeling knife. With grits the rule is that a lower number means a coarser abrasive and a higher number a finer one, and 1500 is a fine grit serving as a middle step between coarser and the finest sanding.

Use

• Fine smoothing of a surface as an intermediate step before the finest grits
• Smoothing the marks left by coarser sanding and small scratches
• Smoothing curved and shaped surfaces without creating flat spots
• We recommend sanding wet, as it reduces clogging and the surface is smoother
• The sheet can be cut with a knife into smaller pieces for work on detail

Who it is for

For plastic modelers who need to refine a surface step by step toward a smooth base under a finish. Also suitable for working surfaces of wood or metal. Flexible foam is an advantage anywhere stiff abrasive paper does not follow the shape of a part.

For the best result we recommend sanding wet. It is an abrasive material with no chemical content.
