Black is the most treacherous color on figures: it swallows the light and the engraving with it, so that all that is left of a model is a silhouette. This foursome solves the problem differently. Besides a basic deep black it holds a softer, slightly lightened black, a deep red tone for the hollows and a dark steel for weapons, helmets and plate parts. The result is armor that stays readable, because three darks of differing depth alternate in it.
Contrast paints work by running, so it pays to hold the figure upright while it dries and let them run under the edges of the plates. The excess can be lifted away with a dry brush before it goes tacky. Armor reads better when one area is deliberately left lighter, because the eye then takes in the shape more easily.
The set suits dark knights, guards, science fiction infantry in black armor and civilian figures in dark clothing alike. It also comes into use on vehicles, where black rubber or leather parts have to be handled quickly and convincingly. Dark sets will also take stronger metallic accents than colorful armies.
Keep out of the reach of children. Close the bottles carefully after use and do not leave them standing in direct sunlight.
