A resin airfield boarding ladder for the MiG-21 in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. It serves the pilot for getting in and out and the ground crew for work on the cockpit. The resin print holds the thin rungs and the frame in one piece, so there is no need to build the structure up from wire. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for an airfield scene.
The MiG-21 is a fairly small aircraft, yet its cockpit sits high enough that the pilot cannot reach it unaided. On airfields a simple wheeled ladder was therefore rolled up to it and leaned against the side of the fuselage beside the canopy. In period photographs this is such a common sight that a model looks incomplete without it as soon as you stand it on a surface with ground equipment.
Release the thin parts from the print supports with a fresh blade over a work mat. Sand the flash down with fine abrasive paper and wet sand. Assemble the structure on a flat surface and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), or the ladder will stand crooked. After the base color, suggest chipping on the edges and settle dust on the feet with dry pigment.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
