This set of boarding ladders for the MiG-31 in 1:72 holds, according to the manufacturer, two pieces of ground equipment. An accessory for a diorama, not an airplane model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of ground equipment in 1:72 scale from the Russian manufacturer Temp Models, printed from photopolymer. The manufacturer lists it as a set of two pieces. The ladders serve the crew for getting in and out and for work during ground servicing, so they add to a finished model an element that gives the scene both scale and a story.
The MiG-31 is an exceptionally large and tall aircraft with a crew of two seated in tandem. Without ground ladders neither the pilot nor the weapons systems operator can get into the cockpit, and the technicians would have no access to the avionics or to the upper surface of the fuselage. In photographs from the bases two of them therefore usually stand beside the aircraft and are a conspicuous part of the scene.
The parts are printed from photopolymer and are held on thin print supports; cut those away with a scalpel and sand the pad. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is with super glue. Once a filler primer is laid down, a dark wash into the recesses of the structure and fine chipping on the edges of the steps will stand out. Hold the small parts with tweezers. Sanding is best done wet and with respiratory protection.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
