What the material is for

Steppe is open country with a low and rather dry growth, through which bare earth and stones show in many places. On a diorama it is rewarding precisely because it is not green and flat: the alternation of grayish stones, dust and tufts of dried grass gives a scene depth and gives a vehicle model or a figure a setting the viewer can place. The package called Stony Steppe aims at exactly such a setting.

What the package offers

A scenic material from AMMO of Mig Jimenez for rendering stony steppe. The volume of the package, the exact form of the material and the recommended way of applying it are on the packaging and in the manufacturer's instructions. The material is not tied to one scale; with the size of the model only the size of the individual clumps and the density with which you spread them over the surface change.

Usage tips

• make the terrain and its base shade first, and only add the growth and the stones to a finished base
• spread it irregularly, because in dry country grass holds on near stones, in shade and along edges
• leave bare places between the growth, because a continuous carpet looks like a lawn, not like steppe
• suggest ruts and trodden places by leaving the growth out there
• at the end, unify the whole surface with a light veil of thinned paint from a distance

Who it is for

The material is for builders of dioramas and display case settings who want dry open country without continuous greenery and do not want to make the growth themselves. A board, a model, glue and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
