A universal spray stencil for imitating weathered and chipped paint. Paint is applied through it, so an irregular pattern of wear appears on the model that would be laborious to imitate freehand.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a stencil for creating traces of worn paint. On the surface of a model it creates an irregular pattern of chips and places where the finish has been rubbed down to the base. Paint is applied through the cut-out pattern, so it reaches the model only where it should, and the transitions have sharp edges like real chipping. Painting the same effect by hand with a brush takes far longer and rarely looks equally random.
The stencil is a universal masking aid, so it is not tied to a single model or scale. You will use it on an aircraft, a vehicle or a figure, anywhere the finish should look worn. The procedure is always the same: lay the stencil on a finished and thoroughly dried base coat, hold it so that it sits flat across the whole area and spray the wear shade through it. Once it is lifted, a pattern remains on the model that can be repeated in other places or layered over itself.
Spray at low pressure and perpendicular from above so that paint does not get under the edge of the stencil. Apply little paint and rather in several passes, as a wet coat creeps. Test the pattern on a piece of plastic or on cardboard before you start on the model. Clean the stencil after work while the paint is still fresh, as dried paint in the cut-outs clogs the pattern.
The stencil alone is supplied. Paints, a model and an airbrush are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
