Weathering Water-Based Paint Gouache Light Rust is a light rust shade from the water-thinnable Gunze weathering line. The gouache in a tube has a consistency close to a paste, so it holds its shape where you leave it and at the same time can be spread with water into a fine hint of corrosion. It is used as an addition to a finished coat, not as a base paint.
Rust never forms evenly, so apply the paint irregularly and leave the areas between clean. You create vertical traces by washing a point of application downward with a brush dampened in water. A light tone works best as the first coat, onto which a darker core of corrosion is added later; the opposite order looks flat and uniform.
For builders of vehicles, railways and dioramas who want to build corrosion up gradually and to be able to wipe it off at any time. Close the tube carefully and rinse your tools with water before the material sets in them.
Light rust belongs where water lingers longest: in the lower corners of panels, under rivet heads and at the edges of welds. Surfaces washed by rain and by the airflow on the contrary stay cleaner, and it is precisely this difference that makes corrosion believable.
