The marker pen

A marker pen from the Gundam Marker range filled with a green paint with a metallic sheen, code XGM06, the shade listed under the name Luminous Metallic Green. The tip applies the paint straight onto the model, without a palette and without thinning, which pays off on small parts and for short touches.

Where a metallic green is useful

A green metallic shade serves on robot models to set covers and panels apart from the surrounding surface and as an accent color on edges, joints and small kit. It also comes into its own on figures and on the accessories of other models wherever the green should be saturated and technical rather than faded in a military way.

How to work with the marker

Shake the marker pen before work, as the metallic pigment sinks to the bottom of the filling. Get the tip started by pressing it several times on an offcut of plastic. Apply a thin coat in continuous strokes in one direction and let it dry; going over paint that is not dry wipes it away and the pigment runs into streaks. Add a second coat only once the first is dry.

• wash and degrease the base before painting, as paint tears on greasy plastic
• on a smooth surface the metallic sheen is more pronounced than on a roughened one
• a matte clear coat subdues the metallic look, so try it on an offcut first
• wipe the tip after work and close the marker pen carefully, otherwise it dries out

The package contains the marker pen in the version stated. The model, further shades, clear coats and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. Work in a well-ventilated room and keep the marker pen out of the reach of children.
