U-STAR Etch Slide Change Parts 21 is a set of universal photo-etched detail elements for plastic models. It serves as an accessory to a model, which the modeler buys separately.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the manufacturer U-STAR contains a fret with small photo-etched elements intended for detailing models afterwards. It is not a kit: the parts are cut out of the frame and glued onto the surface of a model where the level of detail needs raising. The elements are universal, so the modeler lays them out according to their own idea. The number in the name distinguishes the individual variants of the motifs within the whole range.
Builders of robots and sci-fi equipment will get the most work out of them, as large smooth panels look empty on their own and small regular detail lends them scale. But they serve well elsewhere too: on military equipment, on models of vessels or in a diorama, where technical fittings need indicating. Because the set is not tied to a particular kit, it also suits as a running stock in a drawer; one fret can be drawn on across several builds.
A sharp scalpel and a hard surface are the basics: the parts are separated by pressure, not by twisting. Degrease both the surface of the model and the part before gluing. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue dosed with a pin; the gel version gives a moment to fine-tune the position. Make the bends over a metal edge, not between your fingers. If you are going to paint a part, start with a thin base coat, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface and will peel off during handling.
This is an accessory set. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
