A set of extension cables for the electrical accessories of models and dioramas. It lets a connected element be placed farther from the power supply and the wiring.
Responsibility details are not available.
Lighting and other electrical elements in a diorama or on a model railroad layout are connected to a power supply that sits aside from the scene, usually under the baseboard. The cable supplied with the element often does not reach that far. Extension cables fill the gap, so the element can be placed where it belongs and not where the original wire happens to reach. It pays to allow a reserve for later changes to the scene as well.
Wiring differs between systems in the shape of the connector and in the way it is powered, so check before buying that the set matches what you use. Run the cables under the baseboard, bundle them and secure them against pulling, so that a joint is not torn out when the scene is handled; label every branch, or after a few months you will not find your way around it. Permissible supply values, the number of connected elements and any shortening of the wires are matters for the manufacturer's instructions.
It suits anyone installing lighting in a diorama, in a building or on a layout who needs to get the power supply out of the visible part of the scene. It also comes into its own when building in stages, as the scene grows and the original wiring stops being enough.
The power supply, the lighting elements and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
