Extra Thin Citrus Cement (AK interactive)

Extra Thin Citrus Cement is a cement for plastic models from AK interactive. It is not a kit and not a paint but a modeling supply – a very thin extra thin cement in a bottle of 40 ml, with a square base so it cannot tip over and a fine brush in the cap for precise application.

How an extra thin cement is used

Thin cement is not applied before the parts are joined, as people are used to with classic thick glues. You go the other way round: first place and seat the parts, check that the seam fits, and only then run the brush along the finished joint. The cement wicks into the seam by capillary action and joins the plastic from the inside. The result is clean joints with no squeeze-out and no extruded glue that you would have to sand off.

What citrus means

The cement has a citrus-based formula, thanks to which it smells far less than ordinary cements for plastic – the manufacturer speaks of a mild citrus scent. That is its main added value: it can be used even where the sharp smell of a classic cement would be a problem. According to the manufacturer it bonds by capillary action, with medium-fast drying.

Use

• On the injection-molded plastic of ordinary plastic kits – the cement softens and joins the plastic.
• Seat the parts first, and only then apply the cement to the finished joint with the brush.
• Use little cement – a thin consistency will find its own way into the seam.
• Do not use it on clear parts (canopies, windows, lights) – the vapors will fog them. Use a cement made for clear parts on transparencies.
• It does not work on resin, metal or photo-etch – those call for super glue (cyanoacrylate).
• Close the bottle immediately after use so the contents do not evaporate.

Safety: a flammable liquid and vapors. Keep out of the reach of children, away from open flame and sources of sparks. Work in a well-ventilated room and do not inhale the vapors. Avoid contact with the eyes and skin. Do not use it on clear parts – it will fog them.
