EXTREME RUST WASH (75ML)

Extreme Rust Wash 75 ml — MIG Productions

A ready-made wash on an enamel, that is, a solvent-based base, in a bottle with a volume of 75 ml. The shade is tuned toward a saturated rusty tone and is intended for heavily corroded surfaces: abandoned equipment, wrecks, industrial structures, sheet-metal roofs or diorama accessories. It is not a covering paint and it is not thinned with water; it is a heavily thinned product that is let flow into joints, seams and damaged places and from there creates running rusty traces. It is thinned with mineral spirits or with a thinner intended for washes.

Use

• shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles to the bottom
• with a brush apply the wash into joints, seams, around rivets and onto damaged places in the paint
• for running traces lead the strokes from top to bottom in the direction of gravity
• let it dry for about a quarter of an hour
• wipe the surplus off with a brush moistened in a thinner for washes, which softens the edge of the effect
• build the intensity up in layers, as a single heavy application looks unnatural

Who the wash is for

The wash will be used by builders of wrecks, of abandoned and neglected equipment, of industrial dioramas and of models of ships and trains, where corrosion is a natural part of the look. It combines well with rust pigments, which give dried rust a coarser structure. Given the strength of the shade it is better to underdo the effect and add to it than to try to take it away.

The product is solvent-based and flammable. Work in a well-ventilated room, keep away from children, do not pour it down the drain and close the bottle carefully after use.
