A caricature plastic kit of the F-15J in the form of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. The Cute line works with the same principle as egg models: the fuselage is shortened to a minimum, while the canopy and the tail surfaces are oversized instead. The model is therefore not a reduction in any scale but a stylized likeness of the real subject. The finished piece is small and the build quick, which makes it a good rest between more demanding projects.
The F-15J is the Japanese version of the twin-engine heavy fighter F-15, built in Japan under license. It serves above all for the defense of airspace, that is, for tasks where high speed, range and a powerful radar come into play. The type has long been in service with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and has gone through several upgrades.
The two vertical tail surfaces and the wide fuselage give a caricature model plenty of room for decals, so it pays to prepare the surface well. Smooth the seams on the spine of the fuselage with a sanding sponge, which follows rounded shapes better than hard sandpaper. The gray shades of the Japanese machines keep their depth if you lay them on in two tones and only suggest the boundary. Lay the national insignia over a gloss clear coat and overcoat them with a matte clear coat once they have dried, so that the decal carrier film does not show. Cut the small parts off with straight-edged nippers, level the nub and only then glue them on.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
