Tamiya Fine Drill Bit 1.0 mm is a fine modeling drill bit for drilling accurate holes in plastic, resin and thin metal. It is not a model or an accessory for a model, but a tool.
Responsibility details are not available.
A twist drill bit 1.0 mm in diameter from the modeling program of the Japanese company Tamiya. One millimeter is one of the most used sizes in modeling: most of the wire used for aerials, handles and pins fits it, and at the same time it is large enough that the bit does not snap at the first hesitation of the hand during ordinary work. The bit is held in a hand holder, a so-called pin vise, or in a modeling mini drill running at low speed.
First mark the center of the hole with a needle or a center punch, otherwise the tip will slip on the smooth plastic and you will not cover the scratch afterwards. Drill slowly, square to the surface and without sideways pressure - thin bits break in bending, not from load along the axis. Always back a thin wall of a part with a piece of wood or plastic so that the material does not break through on the other side. Pull the swarf out as you go, otherwise it welds itself into the hole and the bit seizes. In resin and brass go even lower on the speed. After work wipe the bit and store it so that the tip does not touch other metal.
For every modeler who does not want to leave exhausts and gun barrels blind and who bends his own handles and aerials from wire. It is basic workshop equipment, useful on aircraft, vehicles, cars and figures alike.
The drill bit is a sharp tool. Keep it out of the reach of children, protect your eyes while drilling and do not breathe in the plastic swarf.
