Tamiya Fine Pivot Drill Bit 0.6 mm is a fine drill bit with a standardized shank of 1.0 mm diameter. Thanks to it you do not have to change the collet of the holder when changing the bit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A drill bit for fine modeling work: the cutting part is 0.6 mm in diameter and the clamping shank is thickened to 1.0 mm. That is the whole point of the Fine Pivot range - all the bits have the same shank, so they are changed in the holder without resetting the collet and without looking for the right jaw. The thicker shank moreover carries the bending load instead of the thin cutting part, so the bit is not so prone to snapping at the clamping point.
Six tenths of a millimeter is the diameter at which technique already decides. Mark the point beforehand with a sharp tip, so that the bit does not start traveling over the surface. Turn slowly and let the tip bite under the weight of the tool alone; the moment you press, the bit bends and breaks. With a deeper hole, pull the bit out every few turns and remove the swarf, because in a thin flute it clogs immediately. Drill into resin even more carefully, because the material is brittle and readily chips. If you need the hole exactly perpendicular, keep the bit short, with a minimum projection from the shank.
For aircraft modelers and builders of detail who work with thin wire and photo-etch and need holes that in the end are not visible as holes, but as a functional detail. It also suits a workshop where various diameters change often and constant re-clamping holds things up.
The drill bit is a sharp and very fragile tool. Keep it out of the reach of children and protect your eyes, because a broken tip flies off at great speed.
