A flat modeling brush, size 8. The broad, straight stroke suits base coats, larger surfaces and dry brushing.
Responsibility details are not available.
A flat brush has its hair gathered into a broad, straight band, so it leaves an even stroke across its whole width and cannot be used for pointed detail. Size 8 is among the larger sizes of the range and is meant for surfaces: base coats on larger parts, evening out the shade on a fuselage or a hull, applying a clear coat before decals, and dry brushing, which picks out edges and raised surface detail. Held on its edge it can even draw a surprisingly straight dividing line between two colors.
Load the paint only halfway up the hair so that it does not reach the ferrule, where it hardens and splays the brush. Pull long strokes in one direction and let the coat become tacky before you go over the same place again. Several thin coats cover better and do not flood the detail the way one thick coat does. When dry brushing, wipe most of the paint off onto a paper towel and only then pass lightly over the edges.
Never leave the brush standing in a jar resting on its hair; it will bend and will never be straight again. After work, wash it out with the product matching the paint you used, straighten the hair back into its original shape with your fingers and let it dry flat or point up. Do not press on it and do not use it to stir paint in a cup, which is the quickest way to ruin the hair.
Paints, thinner and other aids are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
