A wide and thin sanding sponge measuring eighty by thirty by six millimeters. The six millimeter core bends readily around rounded shapes.
Responsibility details are not available.
Every shape calls for a different tool. A rigid backing suits a flat surface, whereas a concave groove or the inside of a landing gear bay calls for something that bends and yet does not lose its abrasive action along the whole length of contact. The thin version of this aid serves exactly that purpose.
The dimensions are eighty millimeters in length, thirty in width and a mere six in thickness. The combination of wide reach with small thickness means the sponge can be curved with your fingers and laid with its whole surface against a rounded shape. At the same time it covers an area large enough at once that no visible transitions between individual strokes are left after it.
It pays not to cut it up straight away. As long as it is whole it holds its shape; as soon as you cut it into narrower strips it loses rigidity, but you gain access to places you cannot otherwise reach, between the ribs of a radiator or into the corner of a cockpit for example.
While working with transparent parts the order is essential. A scratch from a coarse grade on a canopy will never disappear entirely, so you start with the finest possible grade and work toward polishing. On painted surfaces, by contrast, there is no harm in going through the whole range from the top down.
The material takes water, so it is possible to work wet and to rinse the sponge out under a tap as you go. That extends the time the abrasive layer stays functional.
What is supplied is a single piece. Polishing compounds, fillers and tools for applying them are ordered separately according to what a build requires.
