Where dark growth belongs
Vegetation is placed only on finished terrain, after painting and after pigments. Black growth is the strongest dark area in a scene, so lay it out in smaller irregular groups and complete it with lighter material, so that the scene does not thicken into a single dark mass. If a tuft does not hold on its own, fix it with a drop of PVA or cyanoacrylate under the base so that the glue does not wick up into the fibers. A tuft can be divided and trimmed with scissors. A light pass with a dry brush in a lighter shade over the tips of the fibers gives the growth depth and brings out its texture.
