1:72 Hotchkiss H38 with SA18 cannon is a plastic kit of the French light tank with the short 37 mm gun.
Responsibility details are not available.
This model from the Polish brand First to Fight captures the Hotchkiss family light tank in the H38 version, that is in the form with the uprated engine, which still kept the older short 37 mm weapon. It is exactly that combination that sets the item apart from the other variants from the same brand, which carry the later longer gun.
The Hotchkiss was created in the middle of the 1930s as a support tank for cavalry units. A cast hull gave it rounded shapes, but a crew of two meant that the commander loaded and fired at the same time, which was its greatest weakness in combat. The short weapon could handle infantry targets but was weak against armor, which is why the later vehicles got a longer barrel. After 1940 the German side took over a large number of captured vehicles and used them for rear-area security and as chassis for conversions.
A small scale forgives less than it seems, so deburr the mating surfaces with a file and fill the seams, otherwise they will stand out after spraying. You can bring out the cast hull with a lightly roughened surface, for instance by carefully stippling fresh filler with an old brush. French three-color camouflage schemes of 1940 tend to have dark dividing lines, which in this scale need only be suggested with a fine brush. Once dry, a brownish wash into the recesses and dry mud on the running gear will help.
It goes on sale as an unassembled and unpainted set of parts. Glue, paints and tools are not in the package, unless stated otherwise.
