Giallo Mimetico 4 — acrylic paint from AMMO of Mig Jimenez

A camouflage yellow from the acrylic range of AMMO of Mig Jimenez. The Italian designation giallo mimetico means literally camouflage yellow, and the number after the name distinguishes one particular variant within this group of shades — the maker also lists another number under the same designation, so the items are not confused with one another. The binder is acrylic: it is thinned with water or with an acrylic thinner of the same type.

Use

• Flat finishes on models of Italian vehicles and aircraft with a sandy yellow base.
• A base layer under mottled camouflage, into which the darker tones are drawn.
• Sandy and dry terrain in dioramas, where a warm yellowish base is needed.
• Applied with a brush and with an airbrush once thinned to a looser consistency.

Work tips

Yellow and sand shades are among those that cover worst — reckon on a light primer and several thin layers. Straight onto dark plastic or onto a gray base the paint will look dirty and uneven. If you are building mottled camouflage, let the base layer dry thoroughly so that the masking tape does not lift it; with acrylic it is safer to wait a day. Shake the paint before use, as sand shades have a lot of filler.
