Voyager Model Grain Stenciling Template 1

A stencil meant for reproducing the figure of wood, that is the growth rings and the lengthwise texture of the fibers. It serves as an aid for spraying and weathering: laying the stencil on and drawing paint or a wash across it gives the surface the impression of a wooden finish, on crates, platforms, decks or diorama accessories for instance. It is not a part of a model.

Use

• Lay the stencil on a base in the basic shade of wood and press it down over its whole area.
• Draw a darker shade, a wash or a dry brush across it, so that the figure of the fibers comes out.
• Do not stretch the stencil, so that the texture is not distorted.
• Once it is off, the surface can be toned further for a more faithful effect.
