Fiery shades of foliage are among the most rewarding motifs in all of landscape work: the difference between yellow, orange and red can give a scene an accent of color that green growth never has. This set builds on exactly that and offers 6 pieces at once, so a whole fall belt can come out of it, not just one solitary tree.
The pieces run in a range of 7.62 to 12.7 cm, which is a wider spread than in packages where all the trees are roughly the same. For building a stand of trees that is an advantage: the lower pieces belong at the front and on the edges, the taller ones in the middle of the group, and the scene thereby gets a natural outline without your having to buy two different packages.
Fall trees work best in contrast. When a few pieces with a green crown fit in among them, the eye reads the scene as a real mixed wood at the turn of October, not as a colored backdrop. The opposite extreme, an area made up only of fiery crowns, looks decorative and suits smaller sections of terrain.
Every tree has a pin on the trunk and an optional disc to go with it, with which it stands even without drilling. The colored foliage is delicate, so it pays to store the set away from direct light so that the shades keep their saturation. Dust comes off the crowns with a soft brush; blowing with compressed air could tear the foliage away. During a longer break from the model a light paper cover helps, as settled dust is harder to remove from colored crowns than from the smooth surfaces of a building.
