Hexagonal bolts 1.0 mm – modeling details

The set contains imitations of hexagonal bolt heads of 1.0 mm size. It is not a kit or an accessory for one particular model but a universal detailing material. The one-millimeter size is among the more pronounced dimensions in the range and is used where a bolt is meant to be clearly legible even from a distance.

Use

• Add pronounced bolted joints to hulls, frames, hinges and beams
• Replace coarsely cast bolt heads that a kit only suggests
• Use them away from a model too, for example on diorama accessories, transport crates and structures
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; on larger sizes the joint holds more reliably than on the very finest ones
• Mark out the spacing in advance and check it, as a pronounced bolt gives away any irregularity at once

How to choose the right size

Choose the size according to the scale of the model and according to how conspicuous the detail is meant to be. As a general rule the larger sizes come into their own in larger scales and on coarser hardware, and the finer sizes on small models. The brand makes this range in a wide span of sizes and also offers a package that covers the whole span at once, so you can compare the size directly on the model. A parallel range of bolts with a washer is also made.
