About product

IDF Sand Grey '73 - acrylic paint (17 ml, AMMO)

This is a modeling paint, not a kit. IDF Sand Grey '73 is a water-thinnable acrylic from AMMO of Mig Jimenez supplied in a 17 ml bottle. It is thinned with water or with AMMO acrylic thinner, it is odorless, and tools and an airbrush clean up with water as long as the paint has not dried. The shade is a sand gray characteristic of Israeli armored vehicles; Israel used this finish from the 1960s through the Yom Kippur War of 1973 into the 1980s. It is not a lacquer - it needs no aggressive organic thinners.

Use

  • The base shade of Israeli tanks and armored vehicles (equipment of the Yom Kippur War era)
  • Airbrush: apply in thin coats and thin further with water or acrylic thinner as needed
  • Brush: several thin coats rather than one heavy one, so the surface closes with no brush marks
  • Apply over a primed and degreased surface and let it dry before further coats
  • Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom

Who the paint is for

For modelers building Israeli military vehicles and for anyone who wants to work with a water-thinnable acrylic - with no strong smell, easy clean-up and lower demands on ventilation.

A water-thinnable acrylic. Intended for modeling use, it is not a toy. Keep out of the reach of children, work in a ventilated room when spraying and use respiratory and eye protection.
