A modeling paint from the IONIC range by AMMO of Mig Jimenez. The shade is listed under the name Dark Violet. It is a darkened violet shifted toward the blue side of the spectrum, that is, a tone that looks not crimson but like a cool night color. Within the IONIC range it lies between the dark magenta and the blue shades.
It most often serves as a shadow color under lighter violet and blue areas: it is laid into the folds of fabric, into the recesses of armor and along the edges of areas that are to recede. On its own it works as a full coat for dark cloaks, night subjects and fantasy machinery. Dark violets also prove themselves as an underpainting beneath saturated blues, because they give an area a depth that blue alone does not have.
Shake the bottle thoroughly before use. Apply in thin coats and let each one dry; one heavy coat floods a raised surface and the detail is lost in it. When shading, thin the paint and lead it with a fine brush only into the recesses. You can soften the transition to a lighter tone by overlapping the coats gradually and letting them dry between. For an airbrush, thin the paint with the thinner intended for this range according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging and try the ratio out on a scrap piece of plastic.
It suits both figure modelers and builders of vehicles who need a cool dark tone for shadows and night subjects. Wipe the thread after work and close the bottle carefully. The model, brushes, thinner and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
