Dead Magenta is a muted purple from the IONIC range by AMMO of Mig Jimenez. Purple lies between red and violet, and in a muted form it looks less loud than pure magenta, so it can be used on larger areas as well without overpowering the rest of a model. It comes into its own mainly on figures and fantasy subjects, where unusual colors are in place.
It suggests itself for the clothing of figures, for cloaks and sashes, for pennants, for pieces of equipment and anywhere a color accent is wanted but not a warning one. It also serves to bring shadows to life: mixed into a dark tone it gives the shadows on fabric a color that black alone can never give.
Stir the contents thoroughly before use. Choose the thinner intended for this range and read the thinning ratio on the packaging. Purple shades usually cover less well than grays and browns, so expect several thin coats and a light base on which the color lights up; on a dark base it stays muddy. Let the surface dry between coats and try the shade out on a piece of plastic before deciding, because the tone once dry tends to differ from the one in the bottle.
