IONIC Light Red

The color

Light Red is a light red from the IONIC range by AMMO of Mig Jimenez. A lighter red looks fresher than dark shades and on a model it suits places where an area is to be clearly visible: warning markings, stripes, the clothing of figures, pennants or small accessories. It is also readily used to lighten a darker red on raised edges.

The coverage of red

Red shades generally have the weakest coverage of all colors and this tone is no exception. On a dark base it looks dirty and stays weak even after several coats. The safest method is to apply a light base under it, ideally white or light gray; only on a light base does red light up. Expect to need more coats than with light shades, and apply them thin rather than heavy.

How to apply the paint

Stir the contents thoroughly before use. Choose the thinner intended for this range and read the thinning ratio on the packaging. Let the surface dry between the individual coats, or the previous coat will smear and the area will stay patchy. Clean the brush straight after work; with red pigments a dried remainder is particularly hard to remove and then colors the other shades.
