A modeling paint from the IONIC range by AMMO of Mig Jimenez. The shade is listed under the name Scab Red. The name names the dark red pulled toward brown that dried blood has. Compared with a bright red it is more muted and dirtier, so on a model it looks realistic and does not shout.
On figures it is used wherever red is to look dried and old: wounds and injuries, dried traces on blades, torn fabric, leather straps or armor with a dark red finish. It also serves well as a shadow tone under brighter red areas and as a base for subsequent shading toward brown. It finds use on historical subjects too, where a muted red without a glowing cast is what is wanted.
Shake the bottle thoroughly before use so that the pigment is evenly stirred. Apply in thin coats and let each one dry; one heavy coat floods a raised surface and the fine detail is lost in it. On wounds and traces it pays to thin the paint and apply it only into the recesses, so that it stays where it suits. For an airbrush, thin it with the thinner intended for this range according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging and try the ratio out on a scrap piece of plastic.
It suits figure modelers who need a dark muted red for injuries and worn areas. Wipe the thread after work and close the bottle carefully. The model, brushes, thinner and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
