The Storm Blue shade

A separate paint from the IONIC range by AMMO of Mig Jimenez. The name Storm Blue points to a storm blue, that is, to a darker blue tone with a gray cast, the kind the sky has before rain. Compare the exact value of the shade with the manufacturer's color chart before buying and better still try it out on a test area.

Where a dark blue is used

A muted blue is more rewarding in modeling than a pure blue, because on a small area it does not look loud. It is used on naval vessels and on a storm-tossed water surface in a diorama, on the dark shadows of lighter blue finishes and on the uniforms and equipment of figures. It also serves well as a dark base on which a lighter blue is then layered to give it depth.

Painting tips

• stir the contents thoroughly before use, as settled pigment will otherwise shift the tone
• apply dark shades in thin coats, so that they do not run into the engraving
• for shading, thin the paint more and lay it only into the recesses
• choose a thinner intended for this range and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions
• wash and degrease the surface before painting, as the paint holds better over a primer

Delivery and care

What you order is the single shade named. Thinner, brushes and other equipment are not part of it, unless stated otherwise. Close the bottle well after work so that the paint does not thicken, and store it dry and away from frost.
