Khaki to the Czechoslovak technical standard, the shade of Czechoslovak military vehicles. A lacquer thinned for an airbrush from the Slovak brand Mr.Paint.
Responsibility details are not available.
The number in brackets in the name is not arbitrary: it refers to the Czechoslovak technical standard, which laid down binding color shades for the army and for industry. Thanks to that the modeler does not have to guess a tone from photographs but gets a paint mixed directly to the standardized number that was used on military vehicles and equipment in Czechoslovakia.
The shade covers the typical Czechoslovak khaki, that is a green shifted toward gray and brown. It covered the beds and cabs of trucks, artillery tractors, trailers, armored vehicles and small items of equipment, and combined with other standardized shades it made up the Czechoslovak camouflage patches. The brand keeps the whole group of such tones, so a convincing scheme can be put together without mixing.
The binder is a lacquer, which comes in handy on military vehicles: the coat is durable and will take tape, the sanding of edges and rough handling during weathering. The consistency is set straight away for an airbrush, so it is poured into the cup without adjustment; add thinner only when you are aiming at very fine transitions.
Work with good ventilation and a respirator, because lacquer fumes are not harmless. Matte military tones tend to be thicker, so stir the bottle thoroughly before taking any out and let the surface flash off between coats, so that the coat does not set into a grainy surface.
For a convincing result let the shade work with time. The vehicles stood out in the open, so horizontal surfaces faded faster than the sides; it is enough to add a little light color to the base tone and spray over only the roofs, hoods and upper armor. Under the dust and mud that follow it will settle in.
