The Kirishima was completed in 1915 by the yard at Nagasaki and she was the fourth ship of her group. After modernization she escorted the aircraft carriers during the attack on Pearl Harbor and during the raid into the Indian Ocean. On the night of the fifteenth of November 1942 off Guadalcanal she came under the fire of an American battleship, took a series of hits in her command spaces and in the following hours the crew abandoned and scuttled her. A deep-sea expedition found the wreck only many decades later at a great depth.
Straighten any bent photo-etched parts between two hard plates before you start gluing them. Seat the deck on a smooth and degreased surface and press it down from the center out to the edges, so that no air bubbles are left. Take the mask off slowly and rather before the paint has hardened completely. Choose the shade of the wood toward the warmer tones; it suits the gray of the hull better.
