Lifecolor matte violet is a matte acrylic shade which, in the camouflage of ground vehicles, serves rather for toning shadows than as a field of its own.
Responsibility details are not available.
Violet is among the shades you never see as a whole field on a camouflaged vehicle, and yet experienced modelers use it all the time. Its contribution is in toning: it breaks a green or brown field toward the cool side and turns the shadow under a fender, in a wheel well or on the underside of the body into something other than just a darker version of the same color. That is precisely what sets a realistic shadow apart from flat darkening.
Where violet works on a vehicle
Violet has enormous power on a model, so it pays to work with it with restraint. Apply it deliberately and in thin layers, and keep stepping back from the model and looking at it from a distance in ordinary light. What looks like a delicate shadow close up can read from a meter away as a violet patch.
For modelers of vehicles who work with modulation and with shadows, and for figure painters who are missing a cool tone for the folds.
Keep the paint out of the reach of children and, when spraying, work in a well-ventilated space.
