Lifecolor gloss orange FS12246 is a signal shade with a gloss surface, that is, the exact opposite of a camouflage field.
Responsibility details are not available.
Signal orange does the exact opposite of what camouflage aims at. Where a camouflage field is meant to break a machine up and hide it, an orange area is meant to pull it out of its surroundings in any weather. On ground vehicles it appears everywhere visibility matters more than concealment, and a modeler needs it for exactly that reason. The name of the shade gives the number of the American Federal Standard color standard, FS12246, and the gloss degree of sheen, which underlines the signal effect still further.
Where a signal area is found on vehicles
A signal area has to have a sharp boundary, or it stops reading as deliberate marking. Hold the mask pressed onto the surface, therefore, and run the area along the shape lines of the vehicle, not across them. In that the signal element behaves exactly the opposite way from a camouflage field, which is deliberately run across the breaks of the shape.
For modelers of training, rescue and civilian vehicles and for anyone finishing the warning elements on a vehicle.
Keep the paint out of the reach of children and, when spraying, work in a well-ventilated space.
