An illuminated base with a clear cover for showing a finished model. The cover keeps out the dust that is hard to get rid of on a model with an open cockpit or with fine photo-etched parts, and the lighting in the base lifts the model above the rest of the shelf. The difference shows above all with dark finishes, which merge into the background on an ordinary shelf.
The case is listed with the size of 84 by 115 millimeters. Before buying, measure your model in both directions, that is, in width and in height, and compare it with that figure; count in the projecting parts as well, such as propellers, antennas or a barrel. Stand it where direct sunlight does not fall on it, because ultraviolet light shifts the shade of the finish and of the decals over time.
The way the lighting is powered and controlled is stated in the manufacturer's instructions; go by them. Wipe the clear surfaces with a soft dry cloth, as aggressive cleaners can cloud or scratch them. Place the model in the case only after the last coat has fully cured, otherwise the enclosed environment will see to it that it smells of thinner for a long time to come. Take the cover off and put it on with both hands, so that it does not tip over.
