Limewood slats 2 x 10 x 245 mm in a package of 7 pieces from Aber. A material for building decks, structures and features of dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a building material, not a kit. The package contains seven limewood slats with a section of 2 x 10 mm and a length of 245 mm. Limewood is popular among modelers for the fine and even structure of the wood, which is not lost at a small scale and does not come across as too coarse. The slats can be cut, sanded and stained, and they are used everywhere a wooden profile of an exact section is needed.
Cut a slat with a sharp knife with a new blade; with thin profiles make several light passes instead of one heavy one, otherwise the wood will splinter at the cut. Level the ends and the edges with fine abrasive paper. They are glued with PVA wood glue; for joints of wood with plastic or metal reach for cyanoacrylate. If you want to bring the growth rings out, leave the wood in its natural form and only stain it lightly with a thinned oil or acrylic paint. If a slat is to be painted with an opaque color, go over it with a primer first, so that the wood does not soak it up unevenly. Before building, let the slats rest in the room you will be working in, as wood reacts to humidity.
For builders of ship models, creators of dioramas and scenes, and also for modelers who make wooden features to measure instead of looking for a ready-made part. It suits railway modelers and builders of architectural features as well.
This is a material for building. Glue, stain and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
