A light gray paint from the Tamiya LP lacquer line. The designation LP-34 is the manufacturer's part number for the shade, so you can easily order the same tone again when you come back to touch up an unfinished build. Lacquer paints stand between water-thinnable acrylics and classic synthetic enamels: they dry very fast and once cured they hold on plastic more firmly than acrylic.
Light gray is one of the most used modeling shades of all. It serves on the undersides of aircraft, on modern aviation and naval subjects, on interior fittings and wherever it is to work as a light base under another color. On a large area light gray shows every irregularity of the surface without mercy, so it pays to sand the joints carefully in advance.
Lacquer paints are fairly aggressive to the base, so apply them over bare plastic or a well-cured primer coat, not over fresh acrylic. Make a test spray on a piece of plastic rather than straight on the model: light shades often look different once dry than they do in the bottle. Before masking, let the coat cure, not merely dry to the touch.
The package holds the paint alone. Thinner, brushes, an airbrush and the model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
