Tamiya LP-52 transparent red paint from the LP modeling line. It suits tail lights, reflectors and tinting a silver base into a red shade.

The shade LP-52 Clear Red is transparent, so it forms no covering layer. It tints whatever is underneath it, and the result therefore depends on the base: over silver it gives a rich glossy red like a real reflector, over white rather a light pinkish red tone, and over a dark surface the paint almost disappears. With every further coat the shade darkens, so the depth cannot be taken back, only added to.
Most often on the tail and navigation lights of aircraft and vehicles, on beacon lenses, on reflectors and on the rear lamps of car models. It is also used to bring out the translucent parts from a kit that come clear from the factory. It serves well wherever a surface is only to be tinted gently while the structure underneath stays visible. Modelers also use it for colored highlights over metal surfaces, for example on exhaust parts, where the transparent shade is combined with other colors into a smooth transition.
The base has to be smooth and ideally glossy; a matte surface scatters a transparent paint and dirties the shade. Apply in thin coats and let the paint dry between them, as one heavy coat will leave blotches. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the package, as the LP line has its own designated thinner. Stir the bottle thoroughly before use and work in a ventilated area.
The model, the thinner, the brushes and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
