A specialist publication from the Polish publisher Kagero devoted to the army cooperation aircraft Lublin R-XIII. This is a book, not a modeling set. The title came out in a second, revised edition in softcover and runs to 160 pages. The text is Polish only, which is worth keeping in mind before ordering.
The Lublin R-XIII was designed by Jerzy Rudlicki and was built in Lublin between 1930 and 1934. A total of 273 were made, so it was one of the most numerous Polish aircraft of its day. The two-seat high-wing monoplane served for cooperation with the ground forces, for artillery observation and for liaison duties; floatplane versions flew with the naval air arm. R-XIII machines also took part in the fighting of September 1939. Interwar Poland built army cooperation aircraft as a cheap tool meant to give the army eyes over the battlefield, and this type filled that role in greater numbers than most of its contemporaries.
The drawings in three scales make the book a practical reference for building and detailing a model, and the color silhouettes help with the choice of camouflage and markings. It will be appreciated just as much by readers interested in the history of interwar Polish aviation and its equipment on the threshold of the Second World War. The extensive pictorial section makes the publication a usable handbook even for someone who does not read Polish.
