Decorative gears laser-cut from MDF board, from the steampunk line of the Spanish brand Green Stuff World. The gears have differently worked tooth rims, spokes and center holes, so they can be stacked on each other in layers to create the impression of a gear train. It is not a kit of a particular machine but free decorative material with which everyone puts together a composition of their own.
The set will appeal to modelers and players of tabletop games who build steampunk scenery, and to creators outside modeling - makers, jewelers and artists. MDF has a smooth, even surface, so it takes ordinary hobby finishes, stains and metallic effects well and a convincing imitation of brass, bronze or rusty steel can easily be made from it.
MDF is a pressed fiberboard. Edges after a laser cut tend to be darker, which is a normal side effect of the technology, not a fault. The material is absorbent, so a finished decoration suits an interior and a display case, not an outdoor setting or permanent damp. The particular number of pieces in the package, their diameters and the thickness of the board are given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
