A mid gray shade from the acrylic range of AMMO of Mig Jimenez. It is a water-thinnable acrylic in a dropper bottle, applied with a brush and with an airbrush. The code FS 36357 refers to the American Federal Standard color system, in which the leading three means a flat surface and the six places the shade in the gray group. A neutral mid gray is among the most versatile colors on the bench, because it serves both as an area color and as a tool for working with light and shadow.
A mid gray suits work with depth. When shading before the final color, spray a thin line over the panel joints and around the rivets; once the covering color goes over it, a faint darkening stays under the surface and breaks the model up visually. The opposite approach, lightening the centers of the panels, is done the same way, only with a mix two or three shades lighter. Both techniques call for very thin paint, low pressure and above all patience, because the effect builds up gradually. If a shadow comes out too strong, you can knock it back with a light pass of the base color thinned almost to water.
For modelers who work with surface modulation and need a dependable neutral gray, and for builders of aircraft, vehicles and figures as a versatile shade on the palette.
Shake the bottle before use. Spray in a ventilated space with respiratory protection and keep the paint out of the reach of children.
