The set of six tones concentrates on two Romanian fighters of the present day, that is on the upgraded F-16 and on the domestic rebuild of the MiG-21. It holds three grades of gray, the shade of the radome and the light underside of the interceptors.
Responsibility details are not available.
The first three bottles hold the classic trio FS36118, FS36270 and FS36375. The supplier points out an interesting circumstance with them: on Romanian aircraft these three grays appear not only on different surfaces but at the same time describe different degrees of fading of the same finish. The darker tone matches a freshly sprayed machine and the lightest one an aircraft after longer service.
The fourth shade, FS36320, is intended for the radome on the nose of the upgraded F-16 machines of the A and B versions. It is a small surface, but on a finished model it catches the eye at once, because it differs noticeably from the rest of the airframe.
The remaining pair belongs to the domestic rebuild of the MiG-21 designated LanceR C. A whitish gray covers the upper surfaces and is described in the source as a tone tending toward white, and the lower surfaces of the interceptors then carry a light greenish blue. It is precisely that which gives the Romanian machines their unmistakable look from below.
The set is narrowly aimed, but it covers both types that guard the Romanian sky today without a gap. A modeler therefore does not have to combine shades from several more general packages and risk the resulting tones parting company with one another.
